From September 4 to 12, 2026, speleoarchaeological investigations were conducted at the Bronze Age archaeological site of Bezdanjača Cave. The research was led by Prof. Ivor Janković, PhD, from the Institute for Anthropological Research, in collaboration with researchers from the Gacka Museum in Otočac, the Faculty of Geodesy at the University of Zagreb, and the Archaeological Museum in Osijek, as well as speleologists from the Speleological Section of PDS Velebit, the Samobor Speleological Club, and the Speleological Section of HPD “Željezničar” from Zagreb. During the investigations, LiDAR surveys and 3D scanning of the site were carried out, along with the precise recording of the locations of archaeological and anthropological finds. The collected material was submitted for further analyses, including ancient DNA (aDNA) analysis, stable isotope analysis, radiometric dating, and other analytical methods. Further investigations of this valuable and exceptionally significant archaeological site are planned.
