The city is quieter and more peaceful in summer, perfect for discovering unseen places. One such place is the courtyard of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Nova Ves, hidden from the street and surrounded by old trees. The area around the church was once the cemetery of the village of Nova Ves. From the 14th century, it served the people from the village, and later the parishioners from another parish. People of all social ranks were buried here, from beggars to a judge and a prebendary. When more burial space was needed, a new one was opened further north, on the way to Remete. The abandoned cemetery was turned into a garden.
