On Friday, May 22, the exhibition “Skull C – World Paleoanthropological Heritage” was ceremonially opened at the “Museo d’Antichità J.J. Winckelmann” in Trieste. For the first time outside Croatia, the exhibition presents one of the world’s most important paleoanthropological finds — Skull C from the Krapina site.
The opening ceremony was attended by Stefano Bianchi, director of the Trieste City Museums, Nevenka Grdinić, Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Trieste, Prof. Dr. Tatjana Vlahović, director of the Croatian Natural History Museum, and Prof. Dr. Ivor Janković, author of the exhibition. The exhibition was officially opened by Giorgio Rossi, Head of Culture for the City of Trieste, who emphasized the importance of international museum cooperation and the exceptional value of the Krapina site for European and global science.
The exhibition will remain open from May 22 to August 16, 2026, at the Winckelmann Museum in Trieste.
