On Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 11 am, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tomislav Černava from Technische Universität Graz, Austria, and the University of Southampton, UK, will give a lecture entitled “Microbiome Analyses and Its Importance for Health and Disease.” Dr. Černava is a collaborator on a bilateral project with Austria, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jelena Šarac, and his primary scientific focus is plant and environmental microbiomes, gaining mechanistic insights into microbiome functioning, and linking it to human health and diseases.

The second lecture, entitled “The Epidemiology of Obesity in the United Kingdom,” will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 12 pm by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Will Johnson from Loughborough University, UK, a long-time collaborator of the Institute. Dr. Johnson’s research field are birth cohorts and other longitudinal studies, with a special focus on statistical methods to model longitudinal data, secular trends, inequalities in growth and development, and the causes and consequences of obesity and related diseases.
