In the period from 7 to 12 July 2025, scientists from the Institute of Anthropology, in cooperation with colleagues from other institutions, conducted archaeological research in one of the caves in the Grabovača Cave Park area. An earlier field survey revealed finds of human and animal bones and ceramics from the Bronze Age, which were confirmed by radiocarbon dating of the finds themselves. This year’s research focused on detailed scanning and mapping of the site using the LiDAR method (light detection and ranging), which produces a point cloud with precise spatial coordinates, which also allows the exact location of each find to be determined. A large number of archaeological remains were collected that will bring new insights into the Bronze Age inhabitants of this area in the future. The research leader was Dr. Ivor Janković, and the deputy leader was Assistant Professor Lia Vidas. In addition to them, the research was also attended by Dr. Mario Novak from the Institute of Anthropology in Zagreb, Prof. Dr. Sc. Nenad Buzjak (Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb), Duje Kalajdžić (Faculty of Civil Engineering in Rijeka), Dr. sc. Ivan Drnić and MA archaeol. Ana Đukić (Archaeological Museum in Zagreb).
