On April 24, 2026, the newly renovated premises of the Institute for Anthropological Research in Zagreb at Gajeva 32 were officially opened. On this occasion, an Open Day was organized with a program called Building Bridges of Science, the main goal of which was to network scientists and researchers with business partners, popularize science to students through lectures on current scientific topics, and workshops for children and students with active participation in research laboratories. This event is also an integral part of the implementation of the activities of the INANTRO_Connect project – Building Bridges for Excellence in Multiomics, financed through the call “Routes to Synergies” – DIGIT.

The program began at 11:00 with welcoming remarks, after which representatives of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, representatives of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Governing Council and renowned scientists addressed the attendees. The first to address the audience was the envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and State Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Property, Mr. Tonči Glavinić, who said that “investing in the reconstruction of the Institute of Anthropology building is also an investment in Croatian science”. On behalf of the Minister, Prof. Dr. Sc. Radovan Fuchs, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, Prof. Dr. Sc. Nikola Mrvac, addressed the audience with the words “scientific institutions are not just walls, but also the people who work in them and who have returned to their premises”. The speeches of Academician Pavle Rudan, the creator and founder of the Institute, then Prof. Dr. Sc. Dragan Primorac, one of the leading Croatian scientists and a great friend of the Institute, and Prof. Emeritus Prim., Dr. Med. Stipan Janković, President of the Institute’s Board of Directors, were also greeted with great applause. Prof. dr. sc. Damir Marjanović, director of the Institute thanked all participants who graced this grand opening with their presence and gave additional encouragement in the persistent effort to achieve excellence in the scientific and professional work of the institute as well as in building bridges of cooperation. “The Institute of Anthropology was, is and will be a place of scientific excellence that rests on teamwork because the team is the past, present and future of every success.”
